YOU SHALL NEVER FALL
The
following verse is very
inspiring and gives great hope to those who read
it. What a
wonderful promise from
God to say that if we do these things we shall
never fall. Let’s look at the
things which God tells us to do which if we are
diligent to obey these things
in our life, our future is secure. 2Pe 1:10 Therefore,
brethren, be even more diligent to
make your call and election sure, for if you do
these things you will never
stumble; Firstly, we
will look at the
beginning of chapter 1. Peter
addresses this letter
to those who are like minded as himself, those who
have the same faith as him. 2Pe 1:1 Simon
Peter, a bondservant and apostle of
Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like
precious faith with us by the
righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus
Christ: Now we see
the all-important
knowledge of God the Father and Jesus mentioned,
and that by gaining this
knowledge we have peace and grace increased to us.
It is absolutely essential
for eternal life to have knowledge of the Father
and Jesus Christ. This
knowledge has been lost until now, and is being
restored in the last days. 2Pe 1:2 Grace
and peace be multiplied to you in the
knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, We have been
given all
things, through the Holy Spirit of power, which
will enable us to have eternal
life. With the Holy Spirit of power, we are able
to live a Godly life. This
will only come to us when we believe the knowledge
of the Father and Jesus
Christ. The Father has called us to glory and
virtue. 2Pe 1:3 as His
divine power has given to us all
things that pertain to life and godliness,
through the knowledge of Him who
called us by glory and virtue, When we
accept and believe
the knowledge of the Father and Christ, we have
great and precious promises, we
have divine nature which is the Holy Spirit of
power living in us, and when we
have all these things then we are capable of
building our character as follows. 2Pe 1:4 by
which have been given to us exceedingly
great and precious promises, that through these
you may be partakers of the
divine nature, having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust. 1. Escape
corruption through lust If we are
physically minded
then this leads to corruption and lust, but if we
are spiritually minded this
leads to life. Gal 6:8 For he
who sows to his flesh will of the
flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the
Spirit will of the Spirit reap
everlasting life. Jas 1:15 Then,
when desire has conceived, it gives
birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown,
brings forth death. 2Pe 1:5 But
also for this very reason, giving all
diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue
knowledge, We must be
diligent to avoid
lust and corruption 2. Filling
out your faith with virtue Without
faith it is
impossible to please God. Heb 11:6 But
without faith it is impossible to please
Him, for he who comes to God must believe that
He is, and that He is a rewarder
of those who diligently seek Him. Pro 12:4 An
excellent wife is the crown of her
husband, But she who causes shame is like
rottenness in his bones. 2Pe 1:5 But
also for this very reason, giving all
diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue
knowledge, 3. With
virtue, knowledge. It is
important that we learn
the new knowledge of the Father and Christ, this
knowledge has been lost until
now, but is being restored in these last days. 2Pe 3:18 but
grow in the grace and knowledge of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the
glory both now and forever. Amen. 2Pe 1:6 to
knowledge self-control, to self-control
perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 4. Self-control Self-control
is one of the
fruits of the Spirit, we must have it in our
lives, we must be able to restrain
ourselves in all sorts of situations, hold our
tongues, be patient, do not show
anger, lust or just running with the crowd, we
must be different and set apart
from the world. Today it is easy to be swept along
with gentiles in their
thinking and their actions, but we must show
self-control and be different. 1Pe 4:3 For we
have spent enough of our past lifetime
in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked
in lewdness, lusts,
drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and
abominable idolatries. 1Pe 4:4 In
regard to these, they think it strange
that you do not run with them in the same flood
of dissipation, speaking evil
of you. 1Pe 4:5 They
will give an account to Him who is ready
to judge the living and the dead. 2Pe 1:6 to
knowledge self-control, to self-control
perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 5. Patience We must be
patient, wait on
God, for Him to work things out in His time. This
is not always easy and people
of God have tried to take matters into their own
hands, instead of waiting on
God and the results have not been the best. Abraham and
Sarah, did not
wait for Isaac to be born in the natural way, they
opted rather to do things
their way, and Ishmael was born. He will cause
many problems for Israel in the
future. So, we must
simply wait on
God, trust in Him. Remember He knows best. God
will work things out if we are
patient and let Him do things in His time, instead
of us putting in our ideas
and trying to change things when we feel is the
correct time to do something. 2Pe 1:6 to
knowledge self-control, to self-control
perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 6. Godliness We need to
be like God in our
lives, in our words, actions, thoughts and
motives, we need to be holy and try
to emulate God. 1Ti 4:8 For
bodily exercise profits a little, but
godliness is profitable for all things, having
promise of the life that now is
and of that which is to come. 1Ti 6:11 But
you, O man of God, flee these things and
pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love,
patience, gentleness. 2Pe 1:7 to
godliness brotherly kindness, and to
brotherly kindness love. 7. Brotherly
kindness Kindness is
another fruit of
the spirit. Col 3:12 Therefore,
as the elect of God, holy and
beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness,
humility, meekness, longsuffering; Zec 7:9 “Thus
says the LORD of hosts: ‘Execute true
justice, Show mercy and compassion Everyone to
his brother. Be kind to
mankind, helping
where we can, being of a tender mind, not hard
hearted. 8. Love Another
fruit of the Spirit.
We must have love for one another, in these last
days, the love of many has
waxed cold. Mat 24:12 And because
lawlessness will abound, the love of many will
grow cold. We must have
love, God loves
us and we are sinners, we need to take on the
character of God, and God is
love. 1Jn 4:8 He who
does not love does not know God, for
God is love. 1Jn 4:16 And we
have known and believed the love that
God has for us. God is love, and he who abides
in love abides in God, and God
in him. God is love
therefore we need
to have that fruit of the spirit, if indeed the
spirit of God dwells in us. 2Pe 1:8 For if
these things are yours and abound, you
will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the
knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Notice the
above verse, if we
have these attributes abundantly in our lives,
then we will be fruitful in the
knowledge of Christ, our goal is to become like
Christ, so we desperately need
these character traits in our life. 2Pe 1:9 For he
who lacks these things is
shortsighted, even to blindness, and has
forgotten that he was cleansed from
his old sins. This above
verse needs to be
studied carefully, this is referring to those who
have the Holy Spirit, because
we cannot be cleansed from sins unless we are
repentant. Let’s never forget
that Christ died for us and paid a huge price for
us. Once we have God’s Holy
Spirit, we must continue to grow, constantly
looking at ourselves, judging
ourselves, to see if in deed we are living the way
God would want us to live.
Let’s be very diligent in these areas and not lazy
and sleepy. 2Pe 1:10 Therefore,
brethren, be even more diligent to
make your call and election sure, for if you do
these things you will never
stumble; This above
verse is very
uplifting and we need to look at it, let’s be
diligent to make our calling
{receiving of the earnest of the Spirit} and
election {receiving of the Holy
Spirit of power} sure. Let’s have
the above
qualities in our life in great measure, let’s be
diligent, let’s judge
ourselves, examine ourselves, then we will never
fall. |
