The Holy Spirit has been rejected by the first man, then Adam and his descendants, and the called out people of God.

WHY?

Let’s look at each account separately and see the amazing answers to this statement.

Man was created before Adam. Notice the following scriptures.

Gen 1:27  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Notice in the next verse that man was not created yet………however it is after the above quoted scripture.

Gen 2:5  before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground;

There was a creation of man that existed prior to Adam, had a civilization, rejected God and the Holy Spirit, and was subsequently totally destroyed. This could have happened millions of years ago.

The reason why man was unable to accept the knowledge of God and the words of eternal life, {and thus receive the Holy Spirit of Power or Truth} is that the only people who can accept these teachings are those who believe God, love the truth, desire to learn the truth and are prepared to accept new knowledge and teachings despite what they may have believed in the past, and they are not concerned about what anyone else thinks of them, they obey and fear God. They love the wages of righteousness. They have the earnest of the Spirit already dwelling in them which will enable them to achieve the above.

In the case of the first man, who existed before Adam, he was given the Holy Spirit of Power, which is eternal life inherent, he had everything he needed to achieve eternal life, but that race of mankind rejected God and all He stood for and all He had created and all He is. The first race of man, before Adam, rejected God. It appears that most, if not all people, male or female, did not accept or want God in their lives.

Notice Romans 1 v 21 below.

So why did the first man reject the Holy Spirit of power or truth.

They did not believe God, obey God, fear God, or love the truth. It is the same for us today, in order to receive the Holy Spirit of Power or Truth from God we must believe Him, love the truth, and accept the truth. Easy words to say, but history shows very hard to achieve. Most people in God’s church think they do believe God and love the truth, but when put to the test they simply do not.

Notice that Leviathan lived in the sea when there were ships.

Psa 104:25  This great and wide sea, In which are innumerable teeming things, Living things both small and great.

Psa 104:26  There the ships sail about; There is that Leviathan Which You have made to play there.

The following is a description of the first man it cannot be any man down through history, because only the very few have had the knowledge of God. These people were given the knowledge of God. These were the first man………created before Adam.

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

Notice that God showed them what may be known of God………they were given all knowledge of God.

Rom 1:19  because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.

God demonstrated His power through creation……they knew this.

Rom 1:20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

They knew God but did not give Him the glory, they were full of self-importance.

Rom 1:20  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Rom 1:21  because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

They thought they were wise.

Rom 1:22  Professing to be wise, they became fools,

They made images of God.

Rom 1:23  and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

God allowed them to follow their own lusts and to become perverts, homosexuals and lesbians. These people made the sexual act a perverted filthy thing, with their sick and twisted minds.

Rom 1:24  Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,

God had told them the truth, but they twisted that into a lie. They worshiped idols.

Rom 1:25  who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Because they rejected God, they started to become lesbians and probably practiced all kinds of sick and hideous sexual acts with whoever or whatever they chose.

Rom 1:26  For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.

The men turned to homosexuals, and suffered the penalties in their bodies, probably disease and an early agonising death.

Rom 1:27  Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

Because they did not want to hold on to the knowledge of God, God let them degenerate in mind this is when their appearance probably became like the cave men, remember what happened to Nebuchadnezzar he became like a wild animal. {Dan 4 v 16} Their behaviour warranted their extinction.

Rom 1:28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

The description of this race in the next few verses shows just what they were like.

Rom 1:29  being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,

Rom 1:30  backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31  undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;

Even though they knew the penalty for disobedience was death, they loved to disobey and loved those who were disobedient.

Rom 1:32  who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

So God totally destroyed the earth and the entire first race of man. Notice that in the flood of Noah the earth was not destroyed.

Gen 9:11  Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

The following scripture would appear to say the earth was destroyed at the time of Noah, but destroy them with the earth means destroy them from the earth.

Gen 6:13  And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Divorce was not permitted for the first mankind.

Mat 19:8  He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

So to sum up the account of the first man, he was given the Holy Spirit of power or truth, he did not love God, believe God, obey God, fear God or love the precious truth which he was given, therefore because of their wickedness which followed, God destroyed them and the whole earth.

Now to Adam.

When Adam and Eve were created God would have spent time with them talking about the things of God. They would have been taught many things before they encountered the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life, which were in the Garden of Eden.

Adam and Eve were different from the first man in that they were not given the Holy Spirit of power. They were offered it in the Garden of Eden. It was available to them. They were told not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When they ate of that tree the way to the tree of life was blocked. They were taken from the garden and the way to the tree of life was blocked by the cherubim.

So Adam chose to disobey God and take of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This tree was in fact a man or men, {the sons of God} and in fact Adam and Eve, had sex with these men, and therefore allowed the sons of God to contaminate the human race through them.

Possibly God was experimenting with the Holy Spirit. With Adam it was rejected and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was chosen by Adam and Eve.

They chose to go the opposite way to God.

The words of eternal life just cannot be accepted by man without the earnest of the Spirit.

It should also be noted that the serpent tried to trick Eve into thinking that if she ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that she would become like God. If she had eaten of the tree of life and received the Holy Spirit of power, then she would be like the first man. They would then once again be doomed to failure. Having the Holy Spirit of Power without the ability or desire to obey God to the extent required. The serpent tried to trick Eve into thinking that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was the same as the tree of life.

1Co 2:10  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

1Co 2:11  For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

Notice the following scripture, man just simply cannot understand spiritual matters, they are just foolishness unless he has the Spirit of God.

1Co 2:14  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

So it was with the greater majority of mankind, things pertaining to God are foolishness to them, and so they go along blindly. Content to leave God out of the picture and just follow their own ideas of what is right and wrong.

Israel continued along in the same way, even though God brought them out of Egypt and led them through the Red Sea, they still did not want Him, or believe Him. Notice when the Holy Spirit was offered to them on the last day of Unleavened Bread, at the waters of Marah, they rejected God and the Holy Spirit.

Exo 15:23  Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah.

Exo 15:25  So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them,

Jer 2:13  “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns broken cisterns that can hold no water.

Jer 17:13  O LORD, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You shall be ashamed. “Those who depart from Me Shall be written in the earth, Because they have forsaken the LORD, The fountain of living waters.”

Exo 15:26  and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

Let’s sum up so far, the first man had the Holy Spirit of power, he just could not handle it, and could not obey God.

Rom 1:19  because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.

Rom 1:20  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Adam was offered the Holy Spirit and rejected it. God’s ways were foolishness to him.

Without the Holy Spirit they could not obey God, but they rejected it and therefore could not obey God.

Gen 2:9  And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Adam and Eve chose the way of death, unlike the first man, they were not given the Holy Spirit of power and therefore could not blaspheme it. To prevent this from happening, God blocked the way to the tree of life, when Adam and Eve rejected it. Christ’s future sacrifice would be available to Adam and Eve when they are resurrected.

Gen 3:24  So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

Rev 13:8  All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Now let’s see what happened to the called ones of God. God’s church down through the ages.

If the Holy Spirit of power is given first, then the recipient who does not remain faithful, is doomed to eternal destruction.

Therefore, God gives the earnest of the Spirit first almost as a sample or test to see if the recipient will remain faithful, will build on his spiritual knowledge and will strive to grow in grace and knowledge. If he fails to grow and overcome, the person will gradually lose the Holy Spirit but will not be eternally destroyed, however he will lose the high position in the kingdom which he may have achieved. God has done this in His mercy and wisdom.

The Holy Spirit of power is only given to those who are capable of spiritual meat, have shown God that they will study, pray, overcome and grow. God is not mocked He knows what we are.

Gal 6:7  Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Gal 6:8  For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

2Ti 2:19  Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

The greater majority of people in the church in the last 80 years or so, have not had the Holy Spirit of power. They have only had the earnest of the Spirit.

We know this because of the great falling away, from the truth, the greater majority in the church of God today, DO NOT BELIEVE GOD, DO NOT OBEY GOD, DO NOT FEAR GOD, AND ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH WHAT MAN THINKS THAN WHAT THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL THINKS.

Hos 4:6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

The Holy Spirit of power will not be given to people who do not believe, obey, or fear God.

Let’s look at each point individually.

PEOPLE DO NOT BELIEVE GOD

It is imperative that we believe God. God destroyed those who did not believe Him in the times of the Exodus. God does not change. Therefore, people can expect the same outcome if they do not believe Him today. To believe God is to believe the scriptures not what we want to believe. In the last days, all things will be restored. A great deal of new knowledge will be given to the church, and many new understandings on old teachings. These teachings will be totally scriptural and totally truthful. But they will be very different to what we have believed in the past.

Jud 1:5  But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

PEOPLE DO NOT OBEY GOD

It is vitally important that we are obedient to God. To disobey will bring on the wrath of God.

Exo 19:5  Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.

Eph 5:6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Eph 5:7  Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Eph 5:8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Eph 5:9  (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),

PEOPLE DO NOT FEAR GOD

We can’t go along to church, saying we agree with the sermons or teachings of the church, but in our hearts hold to old teachings of trinity etc. Either we are in God’s camp or we are not. God knows our inward thoughts and motives and our hearts. We can’t fool God. To be a hypocrite is to have no fear of God. We are only fooling ourselves if we do this, and sooner or later, God will sort out these people, God knows who are His.

2Co 7:1  Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

1Sa 16:7  But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

PEOPLE ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH WHAT MAN THINKS……

2Ti 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

2Ti 4:4  and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

If we want the Holy Spirit of God, we must believe Him, obey Him, and fear Him, otherwise we simply will not retain the earnest of the Spirit.

If we are faithful and are led by the Spirit, if we obey God, believe Him and fear Him, eventually when God decides is the correct time, we will receive the Holy Spirit of power which is eternal life inherent. Let’s strive to achieve the highest position possible, and fight the good fight.
