THE PHYSICAL BIRTH OF CHRIST

Before Christ was born of Mary He was already the Son of God.

He was the first born of all creation.

Col 1:15  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

So let’s get that in our minds that Christ was born before anything else was.

As stated above He was the Son of God.

He has not always existed, He was born at a point of time called the beginning.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.

Joh 1:3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Joh 1:4  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

So now we see that at a point of time called the beginning Christ was born the Son of God, and this time called the beginning was before anything else was born.

Christ was the Son of God.

Now He was to become human and be born of a woman.

Php 2:6  who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

Php 2:7  but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

Php 2:8  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Christ had glory with the Father before His human birth.

Joh 17:5  And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

Mary became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. This means that the person that Christ was before His human birth, was condensed to spirit, possibly in the same way as when we die our spirit returns to God.

Ecc 12:7  Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.

When we are resurrected to spirit, this spirit is given back to us and we are as we were when we were physical, I mean our personality our character the very nature we had that makes us the person we are, is given back to us so that we are ourselves, but now a spirit being.

1Jn 3:9  Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

This spirit is our blue print, our character, our personality, our very nature, so this is possibly what happened with Christ, His spirit, His blue print was put into Mary by the Holy Spirit.

Mat 1:18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

Luk 1:35  And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

Soon after Mary became pregnant she visited Elizabeth.

Luk 1:41  And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Luk 1:42  Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

Luk 1:43  But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Luk 1:44  For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

Luk 1:45  Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

Luk 1:46  And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,

Luk 1:47  And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

Luk 1:48  For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.

Luk 1:49  For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.

Christ grew.

Luk 2:40  And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

By the age of 12 He was amazing the people with His knowledge.

Luk 2:41  His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.

Luk 2:42  And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.

Luk 2:43  When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it;

Luk 2:44  but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day's journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.

Luk 2:45  So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.

Luk 2:46  Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

Luk 2:47  And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.

Luk 2:48  So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”

Luk 2:49  And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

Luk 2:50  But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.

Luk 2:51  Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.

Luk 2:52  And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

Jesus was baptized at about 30 years.

Luk 3:21  When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.

Luk 3:22  And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

Luk 3:23  Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,

In His physical family He had brothers and sisters.

Mat 13:55  Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

Mat 13:56  And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?”

It would appear that Christ was a carpenter, the above verse says He was the carpenters son, but the following verse suggests that He himself was a carpenter.

Mar 6:3  Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.

He had His own home other than that shared with His family.

Mar 2:1  And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house.

Mar 2:15  Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him.
