SALVATION, GRACE AND THE LAW

MADE SIMPLE

SALVATION.

Salvation will be available by the remission [pardoning] of sins. The word ‘salvation’ means ‘being rescued, or saved from eternal death’. Every human has sinned, and earned eternal death.

Rom 5:12  Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned

The penalty for sin is eternal death: Jesus Christ volunteered to pay the penalty by divesting Himself of His eternal life, being born as a human, and being cruelly put to death.

Php 2:5  Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

Php 2:6  who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

Php 2:7  but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

Php 2:8  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Joh 10:15  As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

Joh 10:17  “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.

Joh 10:18  No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

Isa 52:14  Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men;

Jesus Christ is the Son of the great God; He is derided, and blasphemed in this evil world; but He voluntarily laid down His life that we may be saved from the result of our sins. The result of our sins is eternal death.

Being saved from eternal death is salvation, and this salvation is available [not automatic] because of Jesus Christ.

GRACE.

Grace is favour; look at the following verses. Noah and Moses were both righteous, and other scriptures will show that God’s favour [grace] is given to upright, or righteous people.

Gen 6:8  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Exo 33:17  So the LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”

The gospel [good news] of the kingdom of God is dependent on the grace [favour] of God.

Act 20:24  But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

The gift of eternal life [salvation] comes by grace [God’s favour.] Faith is proof of our belief of God’s word.

Eph 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

God’s favour is given to those who walk uprightly. God gives grace, [favour] and God gives eternal life [salvation.]

Psa 84:11  For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

LAW.

Grace and salvation are not available for the asking, we have to do our part; we have to do the will of God.

Mat 7:21  “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Keeping the Ten Commandments is God’s will: the Commandments are the foundation of the covenants, both old and new.

Rev 22:14  Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Jer 31:33  But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Exo 34:28  So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

No one can earn salvation, or demand God’s grace: we must live righteously.

Note clearly that grace reigns ‘through righteousness.’

Rom 5:20  Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

Rom 5:21  so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God does not give grace to sinners, He gives it to those who are living righteously.

Rom 6:1  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

Rom 6:2  Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

We have to live by every word of God.

Mat 4:4  But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD.’ ”

Salvation requires us to grow in grace [favour] and knowledge.

2Pe 3:18  but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Joh 17:3  And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Rom 6:15  What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!

Joh 6:40  And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Luk 1:76  “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,

Luk 1:77  To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins,
