NATURAL DISASTERS
We have
learned very clearly
that there will be natural disasters during the time
of Jacob’s trouble, which
occur because of breaking the covenant between God and
Israel. We also know
that the day of the Lord is a time of great trouble to
punish the gentile
nations. There are a lot of natural disasters leading
up to these times, and
there is a reason for these disasters. Christ
predicted troubles
leading up to the time of the end. These troubles
include war, famine, and
earthquakes. Mat 24:6 And you will hear of
wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not
troubled; for all these things
must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Mat 24:7 For nation will rise
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And
there will be famines,
pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. Mat 24:8 All these are the
beginning of sorrows. The sorrows
are Jacob’s
trouble, and the day of the Lord. Jer 13:11 For as the
sash clings to the waist of a man,
so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the
whole house of Judah to
cling to Me,’ says the LORD, ‘that they may become
My people, for renown, for
praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’ Jer 13:21 What will
you say when He punishes you? For
you have taught them To be chieftains, to be head
over you. Will not pangs
seize you, Like a woman in labor? Isa 13:6 Wail, for
the day of the LORD is at hand! It
will come as destruction from the Almighty. Isa 13:7 Therefore
all hands will be limp, Every man’s
heart will melt, Isa 13:8 And they
will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows
will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a
woman in childbirth; They
will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be
like flames. When God
originally created
the heavens and earth and all that is in them: He
created everything ‘very
good.’ Gen 1:31 Then God
saw everything that He had made, and
indeed it was very good. So the evening and the
morning were the sixth day. All mankind
has rejected God
and have chosen the way of good and evil. They have
chosen to decide for
themselves what is right and what is wrong. God is not
often in their thoughts. Gen 3:22 Then the
LORD God said, “Behold, the man has
become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And
now, lest he put out his hand
and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live
forever” Psa 10:4 The wicked
in his proud countenance does not
seek God; God is in none of his thoughts. The land is
created good, but
the people in the land are evil. Sexual sins are rife
in the world. God hates
these sins and cast out the people who were committing
them. Lev 20:23 And you
shall not walk in the statutes of the
nation which I am casting out before you; for they
commit all these things, and
therefore I abhor them. Sins of a
nation defile the
land. Lev 18:26 You shall
therefore keep My statutes and My
judgments, and shall not commit any of these
abominations, either any of your
own nation or any stranger who dwells among you Lev 18:27 (for all
these abominations the men of the
land have done, who were before you, and thus the
land is defiled), The land
eventually spews out
the sinners. Lev 18:28 lest the
land vomit you out also when you
defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were
before you. Job 38 is a
chapter which
gives me goosebumps, as God describes His creation.
The original creation
includes the shaking out of evil. This has happened to
the original creation
before Adam: it happened at Noah’s flood: It happened
to the Egyptians at the
Red Sea. It will happen again. Job 38:12 “Have you
commanded the morning since your
days began, And caused the dawn to know its place, Job 38:13 That it
might take hold of the ends of the
earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it? God’s very
creation waits to
be delivered from the bondage of corruption. Rom 8:19 For the
earnest expectation of the creation
eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. Rom 8:20 For the
creation was subjected to futility,
not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it
in hope; Rom 8:21 because
the creation itself also will be
delivered from the bondage of corruption into the
glorious liberty of the
children of God. The complete
creation of God
loves righteousness, but is affected by sin. Rev 5:13 And every
creature which is in heaven and on
the earth and under the earth and such as are in the
sea, and all that are in
them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory
and power Be to Him who
sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and
ever!” Isa 24:20 The earth
shall reel to and fro like a
drunkard, And shall totter like a hut; Its
transgression shall be heavy upon
it, And it will fall, and not rise again. No scripture
in the Bible is
easier to understand than this one. Psa 107:33 He turns
rivers into a wilderness, And the
watersprings into dry ground; Psa 107:34 A fruitful
land into barrenness, For the
wickedness of those who dwell in it. God’s
complete creation is
affected by sin, which it cannot bear. Adam’s sin
caused thorns and weeds to
grow. The nations, including Israel have sinned
greatly, and are getting worse.
The earth has already started spewing out gentile
nations. Israel will be first
to be completely punished, but the punishment of the
gentile nations has begun,
and will culminate in the worst time in human history. The Tsunami
which killed
250,000 people on boxing day 2004 is an example of the
earth spewing out people
from the land. As sin
increases in the
world: natural disasters will also increase. These are
drought, flood, fire,
earthquakes, volcanoes, tidal waves, cyclones,
twisters, electric storms,
heatwaves, freezing weather, insect plagues. Wars and
famines and plagues will
also abound. This
beautiful earth, which
was created good by God, especially for good people,
cannot bear the amount of
sin, which now abounds in it. This earth is beginning
to spew people out of
their land. The creation of God eagerly awaits the
manifestation of the sons of
God. Just as the
land is on the
verge of spewing people out of it by natural
disasters; so it will welcome
righteous people and eventually blossom as the rose. Lev 26:4 then I
will give you rain in its season, the
land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the
field shall yield their
fruit. Isa 35:1 The
wilderness and the wasteland shall be
glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and
blossom as the rose; God has
planned for natural
disasters to punish sinners. God has often used
disasters of nature against
sinners. Earthquakes, floods, drought, locust plagues
etc. Job 38:22 “Have you
entered the treasury of snow, Or
have you seen the treasury of hail, Job 38:23 Which I
have reserved for the time of
trouble, For the day of battle and war? Natural
disasters will
increase as sin increases: God has created all things
good, but sin has
affected the whole creation. The universe is in a
state of decay, and the earth
is slowly heading the same way; this is due to sin.
The evil that is in this
world will come to the fore as natural disasters
increase. Let’s have a
closer look at
the following verses. Creation
waits for the
appearing of the sons of God. Creation is waiting for
righteousness. Rom 8:19 For the
earnest expectation of the creation
eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. God’s very
creation is
subject to vanity [moral depravity.] Rom 8:20 For the
creation was subjected to futility,
not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it
in hope; Creation
will be delivered
from corruption. Rom 8:21 because
the creation itself also will be
delivered from the bondage of corruption into the
glorious liberty of the
children of God. God’s
creation is spoken of
as a living thing. Rom 8:22 For we
know that the whole creation groans
and labors with birth pangs together until now. What a dire
warning for
mankind: God’s creation cannot bear sin, but complete
destruction will not
occur because of righteous people. ‘Curse’ is ‘utter
destruction.’ Mal 4:5 Behold, I
will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of
the LORD. Mal 4:6 And he
will turn The hearts of the fathers to
the children, And the hearts of the children to
their fathers, Lest I come and
strike the earth with a curse. Mar 13:20 And unless the Lord
had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved;
but for the elect’s sake,
whom He chose, He shortened the days. These
beautiful scriptures
will eventually apply to the universe. 2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless
we, according to His promise,
look for new heavens and a new earth in which
righteousness dwells. Psa 107:35 He turns a
wilderness into pools of water,
And dry land into watersprings. Psa 107:36 There He
makes the hungry dwell, That they
may establish a city for a dwelling place, Psa 107:37 And sow
fields and plant vineyards, That they
may yield a fruitful harvest. Psa 107:38 He also
blesses them, and they multiply
greatly; And He does not let their cattle decrease. |
