IS CHRIST GOD

The Word was God. He was with the Father.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.

The Father created all things through Christ.

Joh 1:3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Eph 3:9  and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;

Jesus is called Lord.

1Co 12:3  Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

This scripture shows that Christ was glorified before the world began.

Joh 17:5  And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

This scripture shows that Christ is referred to as God…… God and the Father.

Jas 1:27  Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

The Son is called God.

Heb 1:8  But to the Son He says: “YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER; A SCEPTER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE SCEPTER OF YOUR KINGDOM.

Heb 1:9  YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS MORE THAN YOUR COMPANIONS.”

Heb 1:10  And: “YOU, LORD, IN THE BEGINNING LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH, AND THE HEAVENS ARE THE WORK OF YOUR HANDS.

So far we have covered some basic scriptures in the Bible. Now let’s look at Christ in the Old Testament.

When Moses received the Ten Commandments there were two Gods on the mountain.

Let’s notice the following scriptures.

The Father told Moses that he alone was to come near to Him on Mt. Sinai.

Exo 24:2  And Moses alone shall come near the LORD, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him.”

Now notice the next verses, Moses and all the men saw God and ate and drank with Him. Did Moses disobey God? ……no……Moses and the other men saw Christ, not the Father in this part of the mountain. Remember we cannot look on the Father and live.

Exo 24:9  Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel,

Exo 24:10  and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity.

Exo 24:11  But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank.

Then we see that the Father told Moses to come up alone to Him on the Mountain.

Exo 24:12  Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”

Exo 24:15  Then Moses went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain.

We cannot look on the Father and live, so He appears to us in different ways, one of these ways is in a cloud.

Exo 24:16  Now the glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

These above verses clearly show that there were two Gods on the mountain when Moses received the Ten Commandments. Now let’s look at the account when God brought the children out of Israel.

The Father brought the Israelites out of Egypt up until the golden calf incident.

Then the Father sent His angel {messenger} Christ to go before them.

Exo 33:1  Then the LORD said to Moses, “Depart and go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your descendants I will give it.’

Exo 33:2  And I will send My Angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.

The Father could no longer go in their midst lest He destroy them.

Exo 33:3  Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”

The Father again tells them He will give them His Presence {Christ}.

Exo 33:14  And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

We have clearly shown that the Father brought the Israelites out of Egypt, and then after the golden calf incident, He gave the people over to Christ to lead.

1Co 10:4  and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
