NEW MOON DATES 2026
{New Moon}
It
would
seem appropriate that on the New Moon, we have a
family meal or a meal with brethren if this is
possible. Also as stated in 2 Kings 4 v 22-23 it is
also a time to consult a man of God. If we cannot meet
together on this day, it is appropriate to spend the
day with God in prayer and study. This is as much as
possible if the New Moon falls on a work day. 2Ki
4:22 Then
she called to her husband, and said, “Please send me
one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I
may run to the man of God and come back.” 2Ki
4:23 So
he said, “Why are you going to him today? It is
neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.” And she said,
“It is well.” This
scripture
indicates that it was David’s custom to have a meal
with family and friends on the New Moon. 1Sa
20:24 Then
David hid in the field. And when the New Moon had
come, the king sat down to eat the feast. 1Sa
20:25 Now
the king sat on his seat, as at other times, on a
seat by the wall. And Jonathan arose, and Abner sat
by Saul’s side, but David’s place was empty. {1} Before the
Passover, the Bible tells us that we should examine
ourselves to be sure we are taking the Passover in the
correct manner. We need to prepare to take the
Passover well in advance, this would entail prayer,
Bible study and meditation. 1Co
11:26 For
as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. 1Co
11:27 Therefore
whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the
Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the
body and blood of the Lord. 1Co
11:28 But
let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the
bread and drink of the cup. 1Co
11:29 For
he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats
and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the
Lord’s body. 1Co
11:30 For
this reason many are weak and sick among you, and
many sleep. {2} These are the
three times that God says the men are to appear before
Him with an offering. Deu
16:16 “Three
times a year all your males shall appear before the
LORD your God in the place which He chooses: at the
Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks,
and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not
appear before the LORD empty-handed. Deu
16:17 Every
man shall give as he is able, according to the
blessing of the LORD your God which He has given
you. {3} Before the day
of Pentecost, Jesus taught the disciples for forty
days about the Kingdom of God. Therefore, a study on
this subject would be profitable form the Waveshief
for forty days. Act
1:3 to
whom He also presented Himself alive after His
suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by
them during forty days and speaking of the things
pertaining to the kingdom of God. {4} Ten days before
Pentecost the disciples prayed. This would be a great
way to ensure we have the correct heart and mind
before the day of Pentecost. Act
1:12 Then
they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called
Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s
journey. Act
1:13 And
when they had entered, they went up into the upper
room where they were staying: Peter, James, John,
and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and
Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the
Zealot; and Judas the son of James. Act
1:14 These
all continued with one accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of
Jesus, and with His brothers.

In
Nehemiah
they read from the book of the law from early morning
until around midday. We should start reading the book
of Leviticus a few days before the Feast of Trumpets.
It had to be the book of Leviticus that was read as
that is the only book where booths are mentioned. Neh
8:1 Now
all the people gathered together as one man in the
open square that was in front of the Water Gate; and
they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the
Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded Israel. Neh
8:2 So
Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly
of men and women and all who could hear with
understanding on the first day of the seventh month. Neh
8:3 Then
he read from it in the open square that was in front
of the Water Gate from morning until midday, before
the men and women and those who could understand;
and the ears of all the people were attentive to the
Book of the Law. Neh
8:13 Now
on the second day the heads of the fathers’ houses
of all the people, with the priests and Levites,
were gathered to Ezra the scribe, in order to
understand the words of the Law. Neh
8:14 And
they found written in the Law, which the LORD had
commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel
should dwell in booths during the feast of the
seventh month, {6} Starting after
sunset, the beginning of the day of Atonement it is
profitable to read Jeremiah chapters 1 – 36 as this is
talking about a future fast. |
